The JNH688 uses the proprietary Ingram Engineering OA241 discrete op amp for the high quality, low noise gain duties. Each channel has transformer coupled inputs and outputs. Outboard equalizers and compressors can be connected using 500-series rack loop-through connections, then activated using a front panel “Insert” button on the JNH688. The Ingram Engineering EQ52 Equalizer provides the perfect pairing with the JNH688 when used in the Insert path. Especially when the tube stage is overdriven, the EQ52 provides all options needed for gentle tonal shaping or extreme filtering to balance harmonic content.
Accurate LED indicators provide clip warnings, tubes entering saturation region, and VU output levels.
Line input accommodates unbalanced and balanced signals. The line input impedance can be switched between a typical guitar pickup load and an ultra-high impedance that will not load passive filters.
Line input signals can be split between Channels A and B so that parallel processing is possible. Common applications are to use one channel with clean gain, then the other channel with tube boost driven into saturation.
Channels A and B can be output as independent channels for post production, or blended together to realize a pre-mixed signal duplicated on both A and B. Common applications are dual mic guitar cabinets, acoustic guitars, or pianos with your favorite two mic choices, then commit to a pleasing blend before outputting to the recording medium.
